How Can We Help

The adoption journey is a wonderful and miraculous experience, yet along the way there can many barriers for adopting families. Above and Beyond Orphan Ministry exists to help navigate through the barriers to adoption. We do this through:

1. Awareness

We want to bring awareness to the needs of the orphan worldwide and our call, as Christians, to respond and help them. We will speak or make presentations at events or churches. We also provide step-by-step guidance to walk you through starting an orphan ministry at your church. We will meet with you, provide resources and do our best to help you get started. Our passion is to bring awareness to the Church that everyone has a part to play in the plight of the orphan and we want to invite every Christian into what God is doing, worldwide, to meet the needs of the orphan.

2. Support

Pre-adoptive resource guide - compiled together with Focus on the Family, this guide contains a variety of educational documents about the overall adoption process. It includes common adoption questions, terminology, decisions that will need to be made, practical resources, information on public, private and international adoption and a step by step guide through the entire process.  This guide is available to churches and individuals. 3. Financial Help

We partner with ABBA Canada Foundation to provide financial assistance through:

Grants
An adopting family applies for and receives a grant valued up to $3,500. This money is administered to the adoption agency (which must be a registered Canadian charity) after the completed home study. There is no responsibility to repay this grant. Apply for a grant.

Practical assistance for adoptive families - we have developed a growing network of people who are willing to offer practical skills to support adoptive families. If you are in need of one of the following, please contact Chris and Stephanie Brambleby at brambleby@gmail.com. Our network is currently volunteering the following: child care, parenting support, encouragement / ideas, cooking, clothes, prayer support, blankets, meals, respite, education training, weeding, laundry and house cleaning.
Network of mentoring couples - we can match you with a caring couple from our growing network of mentors, based on your life journey (ie. International adoption, fostering, adoption because of infertility, etc.) They want to walk alongside you as you journey through the adoptive process.
