Above and Beyond Orphan Ministry was established in 2010 and exists to respond to the biblical call of James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” It is the hope and prayer of this ministry that it will develop awareness, compassion and conviction to minister to orphans, through a variety of different means. We are no longer content to just feel bad when we see a picture of an orphaned child; we have decided that God holds us responsible for the 143 million boys and girls around the world, without moms and dads. We realize that we have been given much, and therefore, much is required of us. Our dream is for every believer to be engaged with helping vulnerable children and we long to see thousands of children around the world cared for through this ministry, and others like it.
Above and Beyond Orphan Ministry has three core mandates at this point:
1. Providing waiting orphans with loving families by financially assisting adoptive Christian couples.
2. Supporting families in the pre and post adoption process through education, resources, practical help and walking alongside families by providing support through the ministry and the church family.
3. Mobilizing individuals, churches and communities to care for orphans and raise awareness of the challenges facing the world’s approximately 143 million orphans. Assisting churches in starting their own orphan ministry, through resources, mentorship and prayer.
Equipping Christians, the Church and communities to support families through practical and financial means, to bring orphans into loving, Christian, forever families, through adoption. (James 1:27)
